Day 560: Birthday and Baby

Rachel, Day by Day

This past weekend was busy, but great! My wonderful friend Andrea had a baby boy last Monday (see first photo). His name is Jacob and he’s adorable. And tiny! I took this photo just to show how tiny he is. He was a little over 5 pounds when he was born. I was trying not to get emotional when visiting her; we’ve been friends since 3rd grade, so it’s crazy to think how we’ve grown up together. I can’t wait to see him again already. I got to hold him for a bit and he was wide awake and stared at me. Ahhh, he’s so cute!

I also celebrated my grandpa’s 85th birthday with him and the whole family. We went to a nice restaurant called The Clubhouse. I think he was really happy we were all in town with him. See the second photo of him and his awesome dessert! I hope he knows this, but my grandpa is one of the most amazing people I’ve ever known. He’s kind, caring, loving, smart, and so many other wonderful personality traits. I’m so thankful that I only lived 10 minutes away from him while growing up. I love you, Grandpa! For his birthday, I got him a mug that says A 1927 Original, a customized deck of cards with a photo of him, my grandma, and the grandkids, and a magnet that says something like Celebrating 64 years of my 21st birthday. He’s wearing it as a pin in the photo! I had a great weekend with everyone.

Scott and I made our first trip to Ikea together (first EVER for him). I’m pretty sure we won’t be going back soon. He seemed very overwhelmed, which I bet happens to a lot of people there. After a while, we were walking faster just to get out of the store. I wanted to look at living room chairs, but didn’t really like any. Oh well! He’s probably happy there aren’t any Ikeas in town.

Have a good evening!
