Day 545: Self-Portrait (Challenge Day 30)

Rachel, Day by Day

30 Day Photography Challenge: Day 30

Here’s the last day of this 30 day photo challenge! I tried to do an artsy black and white photo and I think it worked! It’s a good ending to this challenge. I look very happy in this photo, too! I kind of wish I was wearing an artsy hat, but that’s ok. This is a pretty good photo. Wow, this month really flew by! It seems like yesterday when I took that self-portrait photo trying to show off my awesome pink shoes. I started the challenge with a bright pink color and ended with black and white. It’s not full circle, but I like it! I’m a bit sad this challenge is over. But, I have a lot more possible 30 day photo challenges to come! Don’t stop reading!!

I got a manicure today with my friend Anne! I chose a peachy pink color. I can’t remember the last time I got a manicure; my nails are short, but it was worth it! We had a good time. And now my hands feel and look girly! I kind of want another pedicure, but maybe I’ll wait a little bit. They can be pricey if you get them all the time!

I watched a lot of Law and Order: SVU yesterday. I like that show, but then I get really scared at bedtime and can’t sleep for a while. Why do I do that to myself? Maybe I should watch an episode or two right after work and then switch to something really happy. I know the stories aren’t true, but some of them are sick! It freaks me out that there could be sick murderers out there. Ok, I need to change the subject now!!

I kept thinking today was Tuesday most of the day. I’m so thrown off! But, it’s a good thing. Hmmm, maybe I’ll go watch House Hunters now. This makes me really want to buy a house, though!

Have a good night!

Day 544: Black and White (Challenge Day 29)

Rachel, Day by Day

30 Day Photography Challenge: Day 29

I love black and white photos! And I just learned how to take them on my digital camera. Yay! I spent about an hour by the pool at my apartment complex and took this photo. I thought it would be neat, but the water doesn’t look that awesome. It looks very dirty, but in reality it’s clear and blue! The rest of the photo looks pretty cool, though. In case you were wondering, those are my feet! I might have to take black and white photos more often! They look so classic, artsy, and unique.

I’m so confused! It feels like Monday, but it’s really Tuesday. It’s so nice outside, too! Fresh air feels great. I plan to go on lots of walks this spring, summer, and fall. Yay!!

What do you think the next big thing will be after Facebook? I think it’s just a phase, but I wonder how much longer it will last. There was My Space before this; is anyone on that anymore? I never got on that website actually. It’s crazy how quickly technology changes!

Day 543: Flowers (Challenge Day 28)

Rachel, Day by Day

30 Day Photography Challenge: Day 28

Orange flowers are so pretty! These are on the side of my grandpa’s house. There’s something about the orange and green together that’s so pretty. I love flowers! I’m glad I got to take a photo of some for this challenge. I’m not even sure if my grandpa planted these; I think they just popped up on their own. Which makes them more fun and unique! Anyone know what kind of flowers these are? I love the spring when people plant flowers and they just bloom out of nowhere. It’s such a pretty season. So is fall!

I had a nice Memorial Day! Of course, we should remember those who have or currently are serving in our armed forces. It’s amazing that they risk their lives for us. Thank you to all of you! You are amazing people. I spent the day with Scott and his family and had a cookout. We ate a lot, played bags, played with some water guns and splashed each other, and had a nice afternoon in the backyard. It was a nice day off! Too bad we don’t have three-day weekends all the time!

Have you created a bucket list for yourself? I started to since it seems cool, but I started getting sad. There are a lot of things I want to do and some things seem impossible. I love traveling to new places, but how can people afford to travel around the whole world? It seems hopeless!

Day 542: From a Distance (Challenge Day 27)

Rachel, Day by Day

30 Day Photography Challenge: Day 27

This is one of the nicest Sundays in a while, mainly because there’s no work on Monday! Yay! Here’s a photo of my mom’s street for you. I thought this would be a good from a distance photo. I was going to walk over to my former elementary school and take a photo of the playground from a distance, but it was so hot! I didn’t want to walk the block and a half in the heat to get there. Wow, it got really hot all of a sudden! Anyway, I like how this photo turned out with the green trees and the sunlight! And it’s a good distance photo since you can’t see an end! I like it.

Sunday was a good day! My mom had a cookout at her house and a lot of family came over for it. It was good seeing everyone and I definitely ate too much! We ended up playing a lot of games that night, too, including Trivia Pursuit, Scene It, and Aggravation. Good times!!

Day 541: Close-Up (Challenge Day 26)

Rachel, Day by Day

30 Day Photography Challenge: Day 26

Happy Saturday!! I had a great day. I went to my cousins’ Hannah and Sydney’s 8th grade graduation party. I can’t believe how fast they are growing! My cousin Kim had these M&Ms made for them; these are their faces and the other side they say something like Congrats! These are so cute! And it counts as my close-up photo. Hannah is on the left and Sydney is on the right. I had a hard time eating them at first since their faces are right on them, but how can you not eat M&Ms? These would be a cute wedding favor, too, but I’m not sure how I’d feel about seeing my face on an M&M. I’d probably be weirded out! This is a creative idea, though.

In the morning, I played tennis with Scott, Ray, and one of his friends from high school. We had a good time! It felt good to play since it’s been a while. We switched partners a lot, which made it more fun and interesting. There were 4 older men playing on the court next to us. I hope to still be playing tennis as I get older. I love that it’s a sport you can play your whole life!

Hannah and Sydney’s graduation party was a lot of fun! It was good seeing family I haven’t seen in a while. We sat on a nice deck in the backyard and enjoyed the weather. I played a washer game with Scott that looked like the bags game. The board was smaller and instead of throwing the bags, you use washers. It was difficult, but fun! He beat me. Good job, Scott. I still can’t believe my beautiful little cousins are going into high school in the fall. It feels like yesterday when I was holding them in my arms and watching them try to walk as little 1-year-olds. Time keeps flying by so quickly and I get emotional sometimes just thinking about it. They are growing up to be wonderful girls and I know they’ll do great things in the future. I will be a wreck when they graduate college and get married. I’m not ready to think about that yet!

Day 540: Something Pink (Challenge Day 25)

Rachel, Day by Day

30 Day Photography Challenge: Day 25

Hello! Here’s is something cute and pink for you. This is a little flower on my cute, summery purse. I love this purse and I probably use it too much! I like how most of it is black and white, but there’s the the extra pink flower and line that makes it even better! My purse is sadly getting a bit dirty, though. Can you wash purses? Maybe hand wash. I’d be worried about ruining it, though. Anyone have any tips??

Yay, weekend! Scott and I went out to a bar with my brother and his friends. It was a good time. I haven’t seen some of his friends in a long time, so it was good to catch up. We ate an awesome dinner at Portillos, too. It might be good that I don’t live near one; I’d probably be there every single day. Why doesn’t the Portillos franchise expand?? They would make so much money! At least expand to college campuses in Illinois since a lot of people come from the Chicago suburbs. Think about it, Portillos! I got to see my uncle and grandpa briefly last night, too. Good times!

I wish I could afford awesome movie channels on my TV. My mom and brother have an amazing Comcast package because they can watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II whenever they want! Not that they would, though. I’d probably watch it every day! Anyway, my point is they have good movie channels.

Yay, Friday!

Day 539: Animal (Challenge Day 24)

Rachel, Day by Day

30 Day Photography Challenge: Day 24

Sorry, I couldn’t get a picture of a real animal. I’m really upset at myself right now. I tried so hard, but I couldn’t find one!! I walked around my apartment complex twice and I thought I would have seen a squirrel or a rabbit. I was REALLY hoping for a rabbit photo. Where are all of them?? I’m so sad. Well, I got this photo of my stuffed animal. I won this Cubs bear at Dave and Busters; I went there a while ago with Scott and Ray. It was a good time! We should go back sometime. It’s a cool place. And I won a cute and cuddly bear! Good times.

We had our weekly softball game tonight! We made it through the whole game, but lost again. I feel like we are improving as a team, though! We made some good catches and had some good hits. We ended up with 5 runs which is pretty awesome! And I did get a hit; I’m proud of myself. We’ll do better in the next game. It was still a fun game!

Well, I’m tired. Good night! It’s almost the weekend!

Day 538: Sunflare (Challenge Day 23)

Rachel, Day by Day

30 Day Photography Challenge: Day 23

I love this photo!! Sunflares are so cool. In case you don’t know, the streaks of light underneath the sun makes a sunflare. It makes the sun look really even more beautiful. This might sound odd, but this is how I imagine it to look when you go to heaven, but a lot more streaks of light. Basically how it looks in the movie Ghost. I took a photo a few years ago of a sunflare coming through the clouds; that was an awesome photo. I’m pretty sure I took it on the road trip to California with Brittany, Christina, and Melissa! Good times. I should go look for that photo. Anyway, I’ve always loved this effect.

The season finale of Revenge was on Wednesday! I can’t believe everything that happened only in the first season! I was a little disappointed in Emily this episode; she seemed to go off of her revenge course and followed her heart. It’s too early in the show for that! And now that she broke up with Daniel, how will she be able to get in the Grayson household?? Uggg. I really want to know what’s going to happen next season! And now we have to wait all through the summer. Nolan is still my favorite person on the show. I loved it when he told Emily not to do anything “revengey” until he got there. He’s so funny.

I think I am a bit happy that TV shows are ending for the season. I have a hard time keeping up with them after a while! It’ll be nice to take a little break. I had a great time watching Revenge, though; I invited my fellow Revenge friends over and we watched the show, drank some beer, ate some snacks, and talked about the show. I wish we did that every week!

Day 537: Hands (Challenge Day 22)

Rachel, Day by Day

30 Day Photography Challenge: Day 22

I like how this photo turned out! I put my camera on a timer, stuck my hands in front of the lens, and this is what I got! Well, it took a few tries to get this, but I really like it. The close-up effect is cool (and apparently I’ll have to take a close-up photo later in this challenge). I like how both of my rings show up, too! My mom always says I have baby hands, but I guess you can’t tell in this photo. That’s a good thing. I like the lighting in this photo, too; it’s perfect! And you can’t see my chewed up fingernails. I wish I could grow them out, but it doesn’t work when playing guitar. It’s a cool photo!

I just asked Scott to give me a random topic to write about in this post. He first said basketball, then baseball, but I don’t really want to write about those things. Then, he said Disney movies. So, I’ll write about that. I love Disney movies! I think my favorite of all time is Beauty and the Beast. It’s a great story with great music and I love all of the characters! I think The Little Mermaid is a close second. One of my favorites scenes was when Eric was guessing Ariel’s name during the Kiss the Girl song. He guessed Rachel and I always loved the fact that he said my name. The stories are so creative and have a way of making me happy. They bring me back to my childhood. I’m smiling right now!

Bye bye!

Day 536: Faceless Self-Portrait (Challenge Day 21)

Rachel, Day by Day

30 Day Photography Challenge: Day 21

I’m back to blogging! Thank you to my friend Steve for fixing my computer! It’s all better now. And I have a lot of updating to do. Here is a faceless portrait of myself for you. Well, there is a face there, but I tried to be creative and draw a face for you instead of just show you my back. I’m not really sure who I was trying to draw, but I wish I gave her more hair. And I wanted to stick out her tongue to be silly. I like how you can still see my back in the mirror behind me. It’s a cool effect! I was hoping you wouldn’t see, but I’m wearing pajamas pants in this photo. Mondays are my lazy days where I do nothing. And this past Monday, I put pajamas on right away when I got home from work! I’m not proud of it, but I love it.

Well, I guess I can’t write much else about Monday. I probably drew a lot in Draw Something and watched a lot of TV. And maybe ate a lot of veggie sticks around my apartment. Have you ever tried them? I am obsessed with them; they are so good!

Have a good night!
