Day 598: Fun

Day 598: Fun

I had a great New Years Eve! First, I went out to dinner with my wonderful family, including Uncle John, Grandpa, Mom, Ray, and Scott. It was my Uncle John’s birthday, so I wanted to spend time with him. ๐Ÿ™‚ I really love my family and don’t know what I’d do without them. I got my Uncle John a mug that says Worlds Best Godfather. It’s a silly gift, but I hope he likes it!

Later that night, I went to Christina’s house for her annual NYE party! It was a lot of fun. We hung out, played some games, danced, drank, ate, and more! I did have some breathing problems with the two dogs around, but I figured that would happen. I wish there was a way to cure this since it got pretty bad later in the night. The above photo is all of the alcohol and drinks Christina and Wes had on their counter. Of course I didn’t drink all of that! Christina made a chocolate martini and then a lemon drop martini for me later in the night. They were both yummy! Here’s another photo of Mel, me, Brittany, and Christina:

Day 598: Fun

I miss these girls so much! And apparently I’m a lot taller than them. Nah, it must be the boots I was wearing. I wish I got to see these ladies more often. Here’s another photo of an awesome photobomb by Larry:

Day 598: Fun

Mel tried photobombing, too, but apparently my hair was in the way! I knew they were behind us, but didn’t think they’d do this! It’s awesome.

Well, I’m done with my photo challenge for December. Thanks for reading everything this month! It was fun while it lasted. I’ll continue to update occasionally and hopefully find another photo challenge soon!

Day 595: Your Winter Wonderland

Day 595: Your Winter Wonderland

Day 595: Your Winter Wonderland

I think my idea of a winter wonderland is a bit more mild than the usual. I’m not a huge fan of snow, so I would prefer very little or none at all. But, to me, a winter wonderland means beautiful lights at night! That’s why I took these two photos. In the first photo, I tried taking a picture of a whole street block with many Christmas lights. It didn’t work so well since I mostly got the street lights, but that’s ok. I can live with it. This second photo shows the lights a bit better on my mom’s house. I like how this one turned out. The colored lights are so pretty; they make me smile. There’s just something about the lights that I love. And decorations! I guess I can handle some snow on the grass, but not the streets! That’s my winter wonderland.

I’m watching the Packers game with my family and Scott right now. Well, I’m pretty sure they just lost. Which means the Bears aren’t in the playoffs. It might be a quiet night since Scott and my brother look a bit depressed.

Do you think Comcast has editors? Sometimes when you check the info for a certain show, words are misspelled! It bugs me. But, maybe it doesn’t bug other people as much as it bugs me. I have also messed up numerous times in this blog, mainly because I don’t proof a post after typing it. I do that enough at work; I don’t want to do it at home! Maybe I should start, though.

Have a good night!

Day 594: Sky View

Day 594: Sky View

I think this counts as a sky view, right? There’s a lot of sky in the photo, but it was a dreary day today. My Uncle John, Scott, and I went to Brookfield Zoo today! It was A LOT of fun. Here’s a photo of the fountain near the middle of the zoo, but of course, the fountain isn’t running right now. Instead, there are beautiful Christmas trees all around the fountain. I love this photo! There are Christmas lights all over the zoo and it’s just breathtaking. I’m so glad we went today! We saw lions, bears, reptiles, penguins, gorillas, and much more. My Uncle John and Uncle Pat used to take me here around Christmas when I was little. I’ll never forget those times. It was a really cold day today, but it was great seeing all of the animals. The hot cider helped a lot, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

I can’t believe there are only two more days in 2012. So many memorable things happened this year and it just feels like it all flew by. There are so many things to look forward to in 2013, though. I’m feeling sentimental, but excited at the same time!

Goodnight, everyone!

Day 593: Words

Day 593: Words

Here are some Christmas words for you! My mom has these Christmas pillows at her house and I’ve always loved them. I want some! I think she also has two other ones that say something like Joy and Believe. They are a cute little decoration for Christmas. I kind of want to get general decor pillows for our couch at home, too, but I’m not really good at decorating a house. I have no idea what colors to get or anything. I guess it all depends on your taste. Anyway, I like these pillows.

I worked from home Thursday and Friday again and I got a lot done. I brought work home since I assumed not many people would be in the office. Plus, sometimes I think I work better from home where there aren’t as many distractions. I guess I won’t be going back to work until 2013 now! Weird.

Scott and I visited Tommy and Nicole on Friday! We haven’t seen them in about 10 months, which is really sad. I REALLY miss them! We all went out to dinner to a nice pub and Ellie (their 10-month old daughter) came, too! She is so cute. I haven’t seen her since she was first born! Here’s a photo of Ellie and me:

Day 593: Words

She’s waving to you all! She’s such a cutie. She was about to get into her pajamas which is why she’s not wearing clothes. Ellie keeps asking “What’s that?” all the time, which is so adorable. I hope I get to see all of them again soon!

Hope you had a good Friday!

Day 592: Night Time

Scott and I passed Portillos on Thursday, so I had to get a photo! Sorry about the cars next to us; I wish they weren’t there, but that’s ok. Here is a night time shot of one of my favorite places… Portillos. I like how this turned out! The red is really cool and the photo isn’t that blurry. Yay! Mmm, now I’m craving Portillos. I’m in love with their chopped salads, hot dogs, beef, and much more. I think they have good milkshakes, but I haven’t had one in a long time. I know this photo isn’t exactly holiday related, but how could I not take this photo??

Thursday night was fun! I went to my Uncle Paul’s house for a family gathering. We ate food, hung out, and played some card games. It was great since my family from out of state was there, too! I miss them all a lot. Here’s a photo of almost everyone about to play the game:

Day 592: Night Time

Maybe we should have asked everyone to look at the camera before taking the photo, but that’s ok. We had a great time! I guess I’ll be seeing everyone in 4 months instead of waiting until next Christmas, which is awesome!

Yikes, I usually write a whole year in review around new years, so I’ll have to start looking at everything I’ve done soon. Stay tuned!

Day 591: Grateful

Day 591: Grateful

I am definitely grateful for coffee in the morning, so I thought I’d take a photo of my coffee maker. Too bad Grateful wasn’t for the day after this; that’s when I started setting up my new coffee maker! Darn. Oh well. I worked on Wednesday (and the rest of the week), so I definitely needed some coffee! But, on a more serious note, I’mย really grateful for my friends and family, so I took a picture of this photo collage, too:

Day 591: Grateful

Friends and family mean the world to me! I love you all. There’s a lot to be grateful for in life, but a lot of things don’t mean as much unless you are with the people you care about. Thank you to all of you. You make my life a lot better.

I worked from home on Wednesday and was able to get a lot done, which was good. Scott and I went over to his grandma’s house that evening for some Christmas leftovers. They were still delicious! It was nice to relax a bit after a busy Christmas day.

What is your favorite part about Christmas day? The food? Waking up early to open presents? Maybe stocking stuffers? Leave a comment and let me know!

Day 590: Morning

Day 590: Morning

Merry Christmas!! This photo was taken Christmas morning before Scott and I left town. We drove over to my grandpa’s house and exchanged presents with him and my uncle. I’m glad we got to do that quickly in the morning! My mom, Scott, Ray, and I exchanged gifts after everyone left on Christmas Eve. I think the highlight of that night was watching Ray open his blu ray James Bond DVD set. He was so excited! I got some really good gifts, including pajamas, games, an Illini ornament, tickets to see West Side Story in Peoria, DVDs, a casserole dish, silverware, my new yearly planner, a wine cork trivet, and more! Everyone is way too generous; it makes me want to cry! Good times. I love my family so much.

Scott and I spent Christmas day with his family at three places: his grandparent’s house, then parent’s house, then Granny’s house. We got to see everyone all in one day! Everyone was way too generous again and I feel guilty just thinking about it. I definitely don’t feel like I deserve everything I got this year. Thank you for everything, though, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart! I got a new awesome coffee maker, a set of our dishes, an awesome family sign, earrings, a beautifully engraved wedding cake knife, and much more! We ate way too much throughout the day, but the food was great! Thanks to Ashley for making such a delicious meal. It was cute watching Caden and Kendyl open their presents, too.

In the evening, we did a white elephant exchange and also played some Minute to Win It games. Here’s a photo of one of the games:

Day 590: Morning

They were really fun! And I discovered a hidden talent. I was good at a dice game. We had to hold a credit card in our mouth and balance five dice on the credit card. I did it easily! I wonder what I could do with this talent. Stacie kicked our butts and won the whole challenge! I ended up going home with some popcorn and a gift card to the movie theater, so that was awesome.

It was a great Christmas!

Day 589: Favorite Part of Christmas Eve

Day 589: Favorite Part of Christmas Eve

Yikes, I’m a bit behind! It’s because this week has been so awesome and busy! It’s time to write about Christmas Eve. It was a great day! All of my relatives came over to my mom’s house for our traditional Cuban meal (pork and black beans and rice). There were a total of 37 people in the house, so it was packed! The first photo above is the delicious black beans. They are definitely my favorite part of the meal! And, this second photo is supposed to show that my favorite part of Christmas Eve is just getting together with my family.

I had a fun time. I got to catch up with my relatives, especially the ones that live out of state. I wish I could see them more often. Especially my cousin Kim! She only comes in every other year. We caught up, ate some great food, drank cupcake martinis (thanks to my cousin Jeff!), sang songs (mainly the little kids), opened presents, ate dessert, and played Cuban bingo. Good times! I even won once at Cuban bingo. It was another great year. And I can’t believe all of my little cousins are getting so big!

I guess time flies when you are having fun. ๐Ÿ™‚

Day 588: Scarf

Day 588: Scarf

Hello! Here is my brother Ray in his Blackhawks scarf. I’m not exactly sure how often he wears it, but he was kind enough to put it on today for my blog. It is a nice looking scarf, but then again, I’m a Blackhawks fan! I don’t think it’s the warmest scarf ever, but who cares? It’s beautiful! I really do miss hockey. This winter doesn’t feel the same without it. At least we can still wear Blackhawks gear like this scarf!

I had a good day today! I played the board game Cash Cab with Uncle John and Grandpa this afternoon. That was fun! I hope we get to play again soon. I then got my haircut since it’s been a while. I only got a few inches trimmed off. I’m going to really chop it off after the wedding! Tonight I went shopping with my wonderful friends Melissa, Christina, and Brittany. We went to a really good brewery for dinner called Gordon Biersch. I like it a lot! I ate a hummus and goat cheese salad and I tried a hefeweizen beer. Mmmm, I want to go back maybe tomorrow. But, it’ll be Christmas Eve, so I won’t. It was great seeing them, though!

Ahhh, it’s Christmas Eve tomorrow! I’m excited to see my family!

Ok, time for bed. Goodnight!

Day 587: Tradition

Day 587: Tradition

I love this snow village! It’s a tradition for my mom to put this out every year at Christmas time. I can’t remember a Christmas without this snow village. My mom and dad used to buy another item for this every single year, but then it got so big that they stopped. It’s so cute, though! I love the little shopping area in the bottom left corner. This snow village really used to mean a lot to my dad. He loved this time of year. When I was younger, I used to come up with stories about the people and families in the village. I don’t remember the stories now, but it was a good time.

I got breakfast with Scott, Andrea, Warren, Kim, Luke, and little Jacob this morning! Andrea and Kim are my really good friends from high school and Warren and Luke are their husbands. Kim lives in Pennsylvania, so I don’t get to see her often. It was awesome seeing her! And I got to see Andrea’s son Jacob again who was just born a few months ago (click here to see my previous post about him). It felt like a little high school reunion! I miss these girls a lot.

Now we get to see our family friends in a few hours! It’s been fun visiting with everyone lately.

Three more days!
