Day 216: Squirrel

Rachel, Day by Day

I know I just took a photo of this tree yesterday, but I wanted you to meet my new friend. This is Sam the Squirrel. He was outside of my office a lot today! I’d look over and see him and then he’d disappear for a while. Then, I’d look over an hour later and see him again! (Ok, it could have been a different squirrel, but I like to think it was Sam.) He looked a bit hungry and cold at times, and I did feel bad for him. I know there are squirrels everywhere and they can be kind of gross, but I do think they can be cute! Especially Sam. Yes, I realize I probably sound like a weirdo. But hey, you are reading my blog, so what does that say about you??

It was Election Day today! Who voted? I did! I proudly wore my sticker all day and am still wearing it. I voted this morning before work. I must say, 6:15 a.m. is too early. But, then I didn’t have to worry about it later. I went out to dinner with my uncle, aunt, and cousins to celebrate voting. I ate some yummy pasta. Fun times!

Day 208: Red Leaves

Rachel, Day by Day

This is my favorite kind of tree in autumn, the ones with red leaves! There’s something about these red leaves that make me smile. Maybe because they are so pretty and colorful, especially when there are still a few green leaves left. I like the fact that the leaves aren’t completely red; they are more of a maroon color. Today is the perfect day, too! Well, besides the cloudiness. The weather is really nice and in the 70s. Yay! Sorry about the many photos of trees and flowers. It’s hard to not take pictures of them in the fall!

Is anyone else tired of the political commercials… seriously?? They are so aggravating and annoying! They make me not want to vote. Actually, I still haven’t decided if I’m voting yet. I don’t have strong feelings toward anybody. But, I’d feel bad not voting. I guess I have a week and a day to decide.

I’m playing tennis tonight! It’ll be a nice night for it, besides the wind. Tomorrow is supposed to be really windy, too. Gotta love Illinois weather.

Day 138: My Feet

Rachel, Day by Day

Guess what I did after work today?? I went to the pool at my apartment complex! I didn’t actually go in the pool, but I relaxed on a lounge chair for about an hour. I think I even fell asleep for 10 minutes until a car alarm went off. I am in a better mood than normal right now. It was VERY relaxing and I feel like I haven’t been able to relax by myself in a while. I guess I really needed that. I’ll be going to the pool as much as I can until Labor Day weekend (it might close that weekend)! Anyway, here’s a picture of my legs and feet hanging out by the pool. It is a really nice pool (hopefully Christina and Melissa can agree). My feet do look funny right now. I have a flip flop tan! Hopefully I didn’t get a sunburn. I forgot to put lotion on.

I just cooked myself some dinner, which I haven’t really done yet by myself since I moved here. I cooked some veggie burgers; I ate one and it tasted really good! I’ll have to bring one for lunch tomorrow. Yum! Well, not much else is new for a Monday.

Maybe I’ll actually talk about something serious for once. I’m going to talk about how I feel about Obama lately. I did vote for him thinking he’d be a great president, but now I’m confused. I’m glad he lightened the restrictions for Americans who want to travel to Cuba, but that’s the only thing I really like that he did for us. And not everybody cares about that like I do! I think it hit me when he went on The View. Why would he do that?? I’m starting to think he cares more about his fame than his presidency. And I read an article on Yahoo today about how he’s on vacation and he doesn’t like people taking photos of him swimming without a shirt on (I skimmed the article, but I think I’m right about that). Why aren’t there articles about him coming up with ways to make the economy better??? Ok, I’m done talking about this now.

Have a good Monday night!

Day 24: Awesome Clouds

Rachel, Day by Day

It’s been such an overcast day here today. I wish there was nicer weather this weekend; it would have been nice to take walks or go to the park. Oh well, I guess every day can’t be perfect!

I went bowling tonight, and this picture was when I was driving there. I thought the sky looked awesome with that dark blue color. Some clouds were a lot darker than others, too. I do like how the green Go light is shining brightly. It just seemed like a cool picture to me. Bowling was a lot of fun! It turned into Shadow Bowling night, which is basically bowling in the dark. It doesn’t have the cool lights like cosmic bowling, though. I was hoping for that. At least the pins were still lit. I had a hard time figuring out where to throw it though, since it was so dark! I did break 100 two out of the three games, so that was exciting!

Did anyone hear that they are building the World Trade Center again in New York? I think it’s exactly where the other one was, too. I’m not so sure that’s a good idea. I wouldn’t want to work in the new buildings, and I imagine a lot of other people feel the same way, especially people that survived the first attacks. Maybe I’m just a paranoid weirdo, but I think they should do something else with the land. I remember hearing there would be a park there… what happened to that idea?

I might have found an apartment I like! Details will come at a later date. 🙂

Day 19: Laundromat

Rachel, Day by Day

So, this is the laundromat I go to when I do laundry. I like to go right after work since it tends to get a little creepy later on in the night. It’s gone through many upgrades since I was last here. There are flat screen TVs instead of mini TVs everywhere that are falling apart. There are also new chairs that aren’t ripping apart anymore. I guess that’s good. I don’t like how expensive it is. It’s $1.50 to wash on a normal size washer and $3.50 for a larger washer, which I needed for my comforter today. A quarter is 6 minutes for drying. The one and only thing I like about the laundromat is that my laundry is done a lot faster. I can use 4 washers and 4 dryers most of the time. I can’t wait for the day I have on site laundry or a washer and dryer in my apartment/townhouse/condo/house.

Has anyone heard of http://www.meebo.com? Apparently it ingrates all of your ways of social networking into one. That sounds awesome. I guess for social networking, I use gchat, facebook, AIM, and Skype. I’m not sure if Skype would be involved in this, but whoever came up with meebo had a good idea! I’m considering joining.

So, a woman I work with told me the mayor of Champaign (Jerry Schweighart) is actually saying that Obama was not born in the U.S. I guess people are skeptical because Obama hasn’t thrown his birth certificate in front of a video camera. Don’t you think the government would have stopped him from being president if he wasn’t an American citizen? Seriously, people. It’s like people are just coming up with stupid reasons to get rid of him. I personally like Obama. There, I said it. I never talk about politics, so I’m just going to stop here now.

So, I have a facebook friend who had a status a week or two ago that said something along the lines of “What do single people do? My husband is gone and I’m bored.” That kind of made me mad. I’m not even single and that annoyed me! So, single people don’t do anything or have lives? That is completely untrue. I mean, I want to get married someday, and I’m sure I’ll be able to have a night without my husband without getting bored. I’m sure that’s possible. People should have a little bit of independence. Ok, I should stop ranting now. I could go on and on.

Wow, this is definitely a ranting post!
